Being a pioneer in manufacturing foundations for the offshore wind industry since the beginning of the 21st century, the EEW Group established itself as a leading foundation manufacturer within the global offshore supply chain. We have built more than 1,900 monopiles and delivered structural pipe components for more than 450 jacket foundations to offshore wind projects all over the world. We therefore actively seek to enter new markets in order to contribute decisively on the global expansion of renewable energy.
The latest milestone in EEW’s offshore wind business activities is the start of construction of a state-of-the-art monopile manufacturing facility in New Jersey intending to bring offshore wind to the US.
In March 2021, the EEW Group announced the ground-breaking for the first US offshore wind manufacturing facility. EEW American Offshore Structures (EEW AOS) will be located at the Paulsboro Marine Terminal in Gloucester County, New Jersey.
The monopile production mill will be the largest offshore wind manufacturing facility in the US to date. Located at the Delaware River with direct access to the Atlantic Ocean the facility is strategically located to serve the emerging US offshore wind industry with high qualitative monopiles.
The facility will create around 260 jobs in the first development and manufacturing phase. This will start in 2023 with the production of MPs for the Ocean Wind 1 project of Ørsted and PSEG. In the second and full build out phase more than 500 highly-skilled employees will produce the world largest foundations required to support the increasing wind turbine capacities in the future.
