Greater Changhua 1 & 2a Offshore Wind Farms

The EEW Group is pleased to announce that the production of 123 pin piles for the Greater Changhua 1 & 2a Offshore Wind Farms project has been successfully completed.

The production took place from December 2019 until end of January 2021 in South Korea at EEW KHPC. During this production period high QHSE measures had to be met. Special attention was paid to Covid-19 infection control and hygiene requirements. Despite the exceptional circumstances all parties involved were able to complete the project on time with zero recordable incidents. The last pin pile left the production site on 27th of January 2021 to be shipped from the port of Gwangyang to the final construction destination in Taiwan in mid-February. Overall 123 pin piles with total weight of 38,000 MT and a maximum single pile length of approx. 83 meters will form the strong foundations of the wind farms.
The Greater Changhua 1 & 2a Offshore Wind Farms are located 60 km off the west coast of Taiwan with an installed capacity of 900 MW and will be able to provide clean energy to 1 million households.
“The development of renewable energy sources in the Asia-Pacific region is a role model for other countries. We are proud to be a part of Taiwan’s energy transition and we look forward to continuing with the successful business relationship with our partner Ørsted” says Christoph Schorge, CEO of the EEW Group.
