Skyborn Renewables (Skyborn) is proud to announce the newly formed Master Supply Agreement with EEW Special Pipe Constructions GmbH for the delivery and installation of 63 monopiles for the Gennaker offshore wind project. The signing of the agreement between both parties is a main step towards Gennaker offshore wind project completion, planned for 2028 and another step towards Germany’s energy independence to fossil energies. A ceremony was held in Rostock today to celebrate this major milestone for the project.
Monopiles for the Gennaker project are to be produced in Rostock– only 40 kilometers away from Gennaker installation area and will rely on a strong employment plan to secure jobs at EEW SPC, which currently employs 1000 people. Each monopile is up to 54 meters Long with a top diameter of 7.5 meters and weighs up to 877 tons.
With a capacity up to 976.5 MW, Gennaker is to become the largest offshore wind farm in the German Baltic Sea to date. Located approximately 15 kilometres north of the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula, the project area sits within a designated priority zone for offshore wind energy in the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern coastal sea. Skyborn secured the initial building permit for the Gennaker site in May 2019 and maintains site exclusivity for its development. Gennaker is planned to be commissioned in 2028.
